To change that, the American Heart Association, a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere, is encouraging women to prioritize their heart health. Leading that effort locally is Alicia Schulhof, M.H.A., FACHE, president of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and an accomplished healthcare executive who has spent more than 20 years leading organizations through transformational change across for-profit, nonprofit, community and academic healthcare settings. Known for building and empowering high-performing teams, Schulhof is serving as the 2027 chair for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement in Tampa Bay, empowering women to take charge of their heart health while addressing critical gaps in research, education and care. [Go Red for Women](https://www.goredforwomen.org/en/) is dedicated to helping women lead healthier lives. “As women, our days are packed, and life rarely slows down—but women’s health deserves attention now, not later,” said Schulhof. “Go Red for Women is a call to action: Red Means Go, for our hearts, our futures and every woman who matters to us.” The Red Means Go message encourages women to move beyond awareness and take action, whether that means learning their risk factors, scheduling preventive screenings, making heart-healthy lifestyle changes or seeking medical care when needed. Despite the threat of CVD, less than half of women are aware of its risk[[2]](https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CIR.0000000000000907). Go Red for Women is committed to closing gaps in access to care, advancing research and education, and building a strong community of support. By bringing together survivors, advocates and community leaders, the movement empowers women to prioritize their heart health at every age and stage of life while helping create healthier futures for generations to come. This year’s efforts will also include a focus on CPR awareness among youth, encouraging the next generation to be prepared to take lifesaving action in an emergency. “There is one source of support women can count on, each other. Alicia’s unwavering passion and dedication to the Go Red for Women movement is creating a ripple effect across Tampa Bay,” said Nina Morgan, American Heart Association – Tampa Bay. “By sharing her voice and championing this cause, she is helping raise awareness, inspire action and advance a healthier future for women and families throughout our community.” Celebrate the American Heart Association’s local Go Red for Women achievements on Wednesday, February 24 at the 2026–27 Tampa Bay Go Red for Women Experience. Taking place at the Tampa Museum of Art for the third consecutive year, this signature event will feature a one-of-a-kind Pop-Up Lounge, inspiring stories, meaningful connections and more, as we honor the impact of Go Red for Women across our community. Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, and the Tampa Bay Go Red for Women Experience is locally sponsored by Aledade, Encompass Health, Healthe Systems, HCA Florida Healthcare, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Microlumen, PAR, Raymond James, Shutts, Symphona, Tampa General Hospital, Tampa Electric, and Ultimate Medical Academy. Supported by more than 35 million volunteers globally, we fund groundbreaking research, advocate for the public’s health, and provide critical resources to save and improve lives affected by cardiovascular disease and stroke. By driving breakthroughs and implementing proven solutions in science, policy, and care, we work tirelessly to advance health and transform lives every day. Connect with us on [heart.org](http://www.heart.org/), [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/AmericanHeart), [X](https://x.com/American_Heart) or by calling 1-800-AHA-USA1. **About Go Red for Women®** The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For more than two decades, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
