In a phase 2 clinical trial testing metastasis-directed therapy for metastatic renal cell carcinoma without systemic therapy, plasma KIM-1 was independently associated with outcomes across several time points. Its prognostic value further improved when combined with circulating tumor DNA data for molecular residual disease. The resulting K-COMPASS model comprising these circulating biomarkers and clinical variables showed strong performance.
