Bacillus Calmette-Guérin plus mitomycin (BCG + MM) was not proved superior to bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) alone, but required 39% fewer doses of BCG and fewer treatment discontinuations. These results support consideration of BCG + MM as a pragmatic alternative to BCG alone following resection of BCG-naïve, pT1 or pTa non–muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Use of this regimen could mitigate the current global shortage of BCG.
