This notice is an Author Correction to the Original Article reporting the SYNCHRONIZE‑MASLD randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled phase 3 trial of survodutide in adults with obesity and metabolic dysfunction‑associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The Original Article was published online on 7 June 2026 (DOI: 10.1038/s41591-026-04479-3). The correction notice was published 25 August 2026. The correction updates authorship, names and affiliations, a numerical typographical error in the Results, and a timepoint label in an extended data figure caption.
The correction adds two investigators who were omitted from the SYNCHRONIZE‑MASLD Investigators list in the originally published version. The investigators added are Juan M. Pericás (Liver Unit, Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, VHIR, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, CIBERehd, Barcelona, Spain) and Michael Zimmerman (Velocity Clinical Research, Austin, TX, USA). These names have been inserted into the author and consortia lists in the corrected record.
The published record contained errors in author naming and affiliations that have been corrected. Antonio Olveira had been listed with an incorrect surname (appearing as Antonio O. Martin) and with an incorrect additional affiliation; the record now reflects the correct surname and affiliation for Antonio Olveira (Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid, Spain). Rizwana Mohseni had an incorrect second affiliation listed in the original version; this entry has been corrected in the updated article metadata.
A typographical error in the “Participants” section of the Results was corrected. The sentence now reads: “Treatment discontinuation occurred at a similar frequency in the survodutide (41.1% (60/146)) and placebo (40.0% (28/70)) arms.” In the originally published version the placebo denominator was printed as “72”; this has been corrected to “70.” The correction clarifies the reported denominators for the discontinuation frequencies but does not introduce any other changes to the numerical values presented in that sentence.
The caption to Extended Data Fig. 5 contained an incorrect timepoint label that has been amended. The caption now refers to “week 52” in place of the originally printed “week 48.” This change aligns the figure caption with the intended follow‑up timepoint described by the authors.
The publisher reports that the listed corrections have been made in both the HTML and PDF versions of the article. The correction notice documents the scope of amendments to the published article metadata, author list, Results text and extended data caption.
The correction notice provides the complete author and affiliation listing and indicates the SYNCHRONIZE‑MASLD Investigators included after correction. The Author Correction lists the primary article authors and the multiple institutional affiliations associated with contributors, including academic, clinical and industry sites across the USA, Canada, Europe and other locations. Specific affiliations cited in the correction include the Obesity and Metabolism Institute (Boston, MA, USA); Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth (Hanover, NH, USA); Boehringer Ingelheim International GmbH (Ingelheim am Rhein and Biberach, Germany); University College Dublin School of Medicine (Dublin, Ireland); and multiple clinical trial sites and research centers.
Notes on scope and record
This Author Correction documents changes to authorship, author names and affiliations, a typographical denominator in the Participants Results sentence describing treatment discontinuation, and a timepoint label in an extended data figure caption. The notice specifies that the changes have been applied to the HTML and PDF versions of the Original Article. No additional changes to study methods, results, analyses or conclusions are described in the correction notice.
