To the Editor Unger et al report that baseline patient-reported fatigue is associated with severe adverse events (AEs) in a pooled analysis of 17 SWOG trials. Although they conclude that fatigue may serve as an early marker for toxicity risk, we are concerned that their multivariable models did not adjust for the most established predictor of chemotherapy toxicity: Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Performance Status (PS).
