MELVILLE, N.Y., Apr. 16, 2026 – The American Heart Association, a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere, has announced that Thomas Mazzini, vice president and market sales manager at Metropolitan Commercial Bank, will serve as chairperson of the 36th Annual Long Island Golf Classic. The 36th Annual Long Island Golf Classic, a Joel Hamroff Memorial Tribute, will take place Monday, May 11, 2026, at Glen Head Country Club in Glen Head, N.Y. The event brings together business and community leaders from across Long Island for a day of golf and philanthropy in support of the fight against heart disease and stroke. Heart disease and stroke remain the No. 1 and No. 4 killers in the United States. Through events like the Long Island Golf Classic, the Heart Association raises critical funds to support lifesaving research, community education and programs that help people live longer, healthier lives. “Health is the foundation of everything in our lives, from our families to our work and our communities,” said Mazzini. “Heart disease and stroke touch nearly every family in some way, and I have seen how quickly life can change when health is compromised. Chairing the Long Island Golf Classic is an opportunity to bring people together to support prevention, education and access to care so more people have the chance to live full and healthy lives.” First established more than three decades ago, the Long Island Golf Classic honors the legacy of Joel Hamroff and recognizes leaders who are committed to improving health in the region. The event has become a longstanding tradition that unites the business community in support of the Heart Association’s mission. Hamroff, a pillar of the Long Island business community, was known for his philanthropy and commitment to building meaningful connections. “The Long Island Golf Classic continues to bring together dedicated leaders who care deeply about the health of our community,” said Tara Schneider, executive director of the Heart Association on Long Island. “Tom’s leadership and commitment to this cause will help carry forward the spirit of this event while supporting the lifesaving work that the Heart Association advances every day.” For sponsorship and event information, contact Tamar Segura at Tamar.Segura@heart.org or visit www.heart.org/longislandgolf . ### About the American Heart Association The American Heart Association is a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
