LOUISVILLE, KY — May 18, 2026 — Thanks to funding from Delta Dental of Kentucky, the American Heart Association is installing a public blood pressure monitoring station at the Goodwill Opportunity Center, located at 2820 W. Broadway in Louisville. This new Blood Pressure Hub will provide community members with free, convenient access to tools that can help them better understand and manage their heart health. “High blood pressure can lead to serious health issues like heart disease and stroke, but these conditions are often preventable with proper management,” American Heart Association - Kentuckiana Executive Director Greg Sciuto said. “We are proud to work with Delta Dental and Goodwill to bring these important resources directly into the community, helping individuals live longer, healthier lives.” High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a leading risk factor for stroke, heart disease, kidney disease and other serious conditions. Nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure, yet many do not know they have it. Access to blood pressure monitors can be limited due to cost or availability, creating barriers to early detection and management. By establishing this Blood Pressure Hub at the Goodwill Opportunity Center, the American Heart Association is helping remove those barriers and improve access to essential health tools. “Delta Dental of Kentucky is proud to continue its longstanding collaboration with the American Heart Association by supporting the development of Community Heart Hubs—bringing education, screenings and resources closer to the communities that need them most,” said Brad Drew, Philanthropy & Communications Manager, Delta Dental of Kentucky. “Together, we’re working to create healthier communities and ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive, no matter where they live.” Join us for a community kickoff celebration marking the launch of the Blood Pressure Hub on Tuesday, May 19, at 11:00 AM at the Goodwill Opportunity Center (2820 W. Broadway, Suite 100, Louisville, KY 40211). The event will feature remarks from leaders at the American Heart Association, Delta Dental and Goodwill, along with a live demonstration of the hub. Attendees can get their blood pressure checked, explore tips for maintaining heart health and connect with more than 20 community partners during Partner Day activities. Community members are encouraged to attend and be part of this important initiative to support healthier lives. Often called the “silent killer,” high blood pressure typically presents with few noticeable symptoms, making regular monitoring essential. An estimated 36% of individuals with uncontrolled high blood pressure are unaware of their condition, which can escalate to hypertension without proactive intervention. A normal blood pressure reading is below 120/80 mm Hg, and maintaining heart-healthy habits—such as a balanced diet and regular exercise—is key to staying within this range.
