AUSTIN, June 10, 2026 - Throughout the spring, a group of 8 women raised more than $69,000 to fight cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 killer of women in Austin.
The top Woman of Impact fundraiser, Ta-Shina Ramirez, raised $21,175, leveraging her experience, expertise, and connections to make Austin the healthiest city in America. Ramirez, who works as director of operations - pediatrics with Ascension Dell Children's, knows the importance of the American Heart Association's work firsthand.
"As a healthcare leader, I have seen the great need for outreach services amongst many underrepresented communities, especially women, dealing with preventable cardiovascular issues as a primary or secondary diagnosis of their health," said Ramirez. "My passion for advancing community health was fostered by my own mother's healthcare experience and that is why I have a desire to ensure that women's health improvement begins at home."
