Through collaborative efforts across countries, we now have an array of parenting programmes that improve the wellbeing of families living with intersecting social and economic disadvantages. In The Lancet Public Health, Richard G Watt and colleagues1 add to this effort in an impressive way. The authors show that the Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC) parenting programme improved parent mental wellbeing in UK families (mean difference 1·89 [95% CI 0·64–3·13] post intervention and 1·66 [0·30–3·02] at the 6-month follow-up compared with the waiting list control group), most of whom faced intersecting social and economic disadvantages (eg, 350 [52%] had a household income of less than £20 000/year and 420 [62%] were of non-White ethnicities).
