Recent data indicates that approximately 12% of U.S. adults utilize GLP-1RAs for weight loss, diabetes, or other chronic conditions, and this figure is predicted to rise to 40% with the recent approval of Wegovy in pill form.
As these medications surge in acceptance and use, researchers are exploring their effects beyond obesity and diabetes. Notably, GLP-1RAs have demonstrated potential in reducing consumption of alcohol and in addressing various addictions, such as those related to gambling and sex.
