Joy Wu Elected as 2027-2028 President of the Endocrine Society

The Endocrine Society has announced the election of Joy Wu, MD, PhD, from Stanford University School of Medicine, as the President for the term spanning 2027 to 2028. She is set to begin her role as president-elect in June 2026, preceding her official presidency which will commence in June 2027. At Stanford, Wu holds the position of Gerald M. Reaven, MD Professor of Endocrinology and serves as the chief of the Division of Endocrinology, in addition to being the vice chair for basic science within the Department of Medicine.

As a board-certified endocrinologist, Dr. Wu has made significant contributions to the treatment of osteoporosis and various bone and mineral diseases. Her research interests are particularly focused on enhancing skeletal health for individuals exposed to cancer treatments that may lead to bone loss. In her lab, she oversees a basic and translational research initiative dedicated to investigating skeletal development alongside the bone marrow hematopoietic environment. Current research efforts include examining stem cell therapies aimed at improving bone formation and preventing bone metastases from cancer.

Dr. Wu is a committed member of the Endocrine Society, where she has actively participated in several committees, task forces, and previously the Board of Directors. Her current roles also include membership in the Society’s Bone and Mineral Special Interest Group, as well as past participation on the Committee responsible for the Hypercalcemia of Malignancy guidelines. Following the Society's annual meeting, ENDO 2026, scheduled for June 13-16 in Chicago, she will officially start her term as President-Elect.
