HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake named Musaddiq Waheed, MD, chief medical officer. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience and previously served as CMO at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast.
HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake has appointed Musaddiq Waheed, MD, as chief medical officer, according to a July 10 news release shared with Becker’s. The Webster, Texas-based hospital said Dr. Waheed brings more than 20 years of clinical and physician leadership experience to the role.
Dr. Waheed succeeds Nathan Deal, MD, who was named chief medical officer of HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake and HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland in 2023.
Before joining Clear Lake, Dr. Waheed served as CMO at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast. In that position, he led efforts that reduced length of stay, improved emergency department throughput and supported gains in clinical quality metrics. Those metrics included sepsis compliance, stroke response times and reductions in hospital-acquired infections, according to the release.
In his new role, Dr. Waheed will focus on strengthening clinical excellence, improving patient safety and quality of care, and supporting the hospital’s graduate medical education programs. Further details about the appointment were not reported in the source.
