Dozens of congressional lawmakers are asking the Trump administration to require Eli Lilly to restore mandated price breaks for hospitals in the federal 340B drug discount program. The hospitals at issue have not provided the company with claims data, according to the report.
In a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the bipartisan group said Lilly is violating federal law by ending the discounts. Lilly stopped offering the price breaks last month, saying the move was meant to reduce what it described as duplicate discounts paid to hospitals.
At the time, the company said it was targeting 50 larger hospital systems among about 1,000 hospitals that had not followed a new policy announced earlier this year. Lilly also said about 70% of participating hospitals, or more than 2,300, had already provided claims data.
